Text message terms
Effective and last updated .
Porter is software that property managers use to answer rental inquiries and schedule showings. These terms describe the text messages Porter sends for a property manager, who is the company you contacted about a rental.
What the texts are
Texts are about the home you asked about: questions to set up a showing, showing times, confirmations, reminders, and follow-up on your inquiry or application. A property manager can also turn on one follow-up text about other available homes. It is off unless they choose it. Porter does not send marketing for other products or services.
Who gets them, and how you opt in
You get texts only if you gave a phone number to the property manager and agreed to be texted in one of these ways:
- On the pre-screening form. The form has a separate checkbox, which is optional: I agree to receive text messages about this showing. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out.
- In an inquiry. You gave your phone number while asking the property manager about a rental, for example in your inquiry message, and the property manager's listing says it may contact you.
Agreeing to texts is optional. You can still ask about a home by email or through the listing without agreeing. Imported or hand-entered contacts are not texted automatically.
Examples
How often, and when
Message frequency varies. Most renters get a few texts around a showing. Texts are sent only inside sending hours, which are 8:00 am to 8:00 pm in the property's time zone unless the property manager changes them. A text booked at night waits for the next morning.
Cost
Porter does not charge you for texts. Message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply.
How to stop, and how to get help
- Reply STOP to any text. You will get no more texts from Porter for that property manager. A message confirming this may be sent. Reply STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END or QUIT. Reply START to turn texts back on.
- For help, reply HELP or email support@porterleasing.com.
